Hi,
I have two SIP trunks without authentication, and they share the same DID (they act as load balancers).
When I try to assign DIDs to extensions, queues, IVRs, etc., 3CX returns an error.
Is there any way to resolve this using a custom trunk template?
I remember that in version 18 there was a way to make this configuration work, but I cannot find the option in the current version.

Could you please advise on the best approach?

Thank you.

Hi,

The DID should be fine, even when load-balancing, with being assigned on the one trunk only. Calls to it from either should be accepted. Please check this.

Can you please provide an example of how to configure the trunks and DIDs?
Please note that both trunks are reachable only by IP addresses and those.

Just delete the DID from one of them.

It works on my PBX.
I'll try it on the customer's system next week.

Thanks a lot for your support.

I think there is an important concept to understand. Your DIDs come from the inventory of the SIP provider. So when a call is placed to one of your inbound DIDs, it only comes through one carrier. You cannot have the same DID configured to multiple carriers because the DID is only in the inventory of one carrier.

So, if someone calls your DID and the carrier that has this DID in their inventory is down, you will not receive the phone call -- unless -- the down carrier is configured to forward the call to the 2nd carrier. Be aware, however, that if the call is forwarded to the 2nd carrier, you will get billed by both carriers for the same call.
