Just labbing but I have Server 2012

Hi all/admin

I installed 3cx on my Win 10 Pro no issues and then wanted to replicate a proper environment. Spun up my old 2012 R2 and tried to install 3cx latest version and got prompted it does not work with 2012 R2.

Found the old v15.exe and tried to install on my server and used my subscription license and got prompted that the license is for newer version.

Is it possible to request a subscription thats compatible with v15?

Simple answer , you can not get a license for ver 15 https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/fqdn-endpoint-change/

another option is to install 3cx on a Debian server (standalone, or virtual machine) -https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/installing-debian-linux-pbx/

Hi again, I went with Debian and watched a few videos. Used the ISO from the website and keep getting the following

Can you confirm that the VM has an internet connection and a valid DNS server set? We recommend using Google's DNS servers as the primary server (8.8.8.8).

You can check what you have by running the following command via SSH:

cat /etc/resolv.conf

You use a SBC when your handsets are in a totally different location to your 3CX server i.e. 3CX cloud hosted.

Do read the doc @Saqqara linked to, but to quickly explain, an SBC is something you would install on a remote location (remote location to the PBX) so that Phones that are at that remote site can connect to the PBX via the SBC which essentially acts as a proxy to the PBX.

A few advantages of using the SBC for remote IP Phones are:

• Super easy provisioning (PnP)
• No firewall configuration required on the remote site where the ip phones reside.
• Extra layer of security (3CX SBC connects to the PBX via the 3CX Tunnel)
• Gets rid of audio related issues, delays, etc.

The only downside would be that you need something to run it on, but this could be just a single Raspberry pi.
