Solved Licence upgrade

Hi need some lights on how to do an easy way to upgrade a customer.

Customer has a 3CX local windows in 4SC perpetual Pro, he wants to upgrade in 8SC but perpetually it does not exist, there is nothing below 16SC, so my idea would be to buy a new license 8SC PRO annual and replace the perpetual license by the annual on the 3CX.

Is this feasible? without FQDN loss? without uninstalling and reinstalling PBX?
Can you give me a step by step process if I have to follow a specific order and technical actions to get to the result?

Yes, you can trade-in the perpetual license to convert to a Annual on the edition/SC you want.

Then, update license info in 3CX. It should work. If you're given a new key, simply replace the old one with the new one and IP/FQDN will be linked to that new key.

Who do the convert step? is it me on partner portal ? is it commercial service? is the licence converted to same level as it was for now a 4SC PRO , if i convert i should have a 4SC pro annual?

Or in one shot i can convert licence from perpetual to annual and increase from 4SC to 8SC ?

You will need to do this on the Partner Portal (or your distributor's portal if any).

I suggest you simply try and see what the Portal says if you try to trade-in the key. I believe you have to trade-it in then upgrade it.

@JohnS_3CX can you be more precise than me here?

I'm not sure about all the trade-in shenanigans but given the low cost, I'm not sure it's worth the headache. Just buy a new 8SC annual like you want and replace the key inside 3CX. It handles releasing the FQDN from the old key and binding it to the new:
