We are trying to implement a backup pbx solution where we have a primary machine running our 3CX system, and if it fails we have a standby PC with the basic 3CX installed.
The 3CX auto-failover is above and beyond what we need in terms of complexity.
If the Primary PC fails, we physically disconnect it from the network, plug in and start up the secondary PC, carry out a restore from our NAS based backup files, the network card on the secondary PC is already set to the same IP address as the primary, so in theory it should just resume the service and the FQDN / DNS settings do not require modification.
NB: We don't want auto failover and the two PC's would not be on the network simultaneously - only one would ever be switched on and active. Is it possible to utilise a single license on this setup, or are we required to buy a second license (or enterprise license, which is just about the same price as two singles anyway).
Our support company hasn't got a definitive answer but feels that the license is somehow bound to the hardware. Can you advise?
Any help appreciated.
