Hi Guys,

Our backups for 3CX in our lightsail instance are failing due to running out of space, I have noticed that the backups are around 8GB each. Comparing this to other 3CX instances which we have deployed, they average under 100mb.

Is it normal for these backups to be this large? Is this a case of putting them in a larger dir?

Any help appreciated,

Thanks.

Hi, this machine you are using is dedicated for the PBX only or not ?
Do you have any other services running on it ?
Can you do me a favour and ssh on this machine and check all the subdirectories under /var/lib/3cxpbx . Do these include files of the PBX only or not ?
Also make a backup without password and then open the backup.
Which folder is the one that gets the most space, and what does that include ?
Can you send me a pic ? PM me.

My advice is to not backup Recordings, and Custom templates, firmware. Your backups will reduce is size drastically. if you need recordings backups made use remote Archiving for them.

The best thing to do is archive your recordings so they live outside the server (those tend to use up most space).

Firmware also can take up a lot of space, especially for some models of phones that run on an Android subsystem.

You can create some test backups (ie. without recordings) to compare the final size and pinpoint what uses most storage in the file, or you can download a backup and look inside

Hi guys,

Thanks for your replies, we ended up SFTPing to a file server to store the backups.

Again, thanks for the help.
