Is there a specific reason that the Phones page only shows currently registered end points? Versus something like all known devices, and a reg status column?

How is the PBX going to know what devices are available unless they are registered to it ?

I suggest if you want to see all devices registered or un-registered you use something like IP Scanner or possibly an SNMP server: https://www.advanced-ip-scanner.com/ this is free to download and we use to local devices when the drop off of 3CX.

Note: for scanning software you must be either within the same local subnet or via a VPN tunnel (scanning the correct subnet).

And I quote: "Registration is the process in which the endpoint sends a SIP REGISTER to the (SIP SERVER) or VoIP provider to let it know where it is."

If the device is configured but say for example in a non routed or remote subnet without access to the PBX how is the PBX going to know any of this even if the device holds configuration on it - its not.

How is the PBX going to know if the device has been reset and removed - its not.

The only things I can say that may give you what you want are:

• A historic audit log of all devices ever registered/setup on the PBX.
• If security permits perhaps incorporating a network scanner into the PBX.
• Pulling the existing information from the Extensions >> provisioning tab > phone/MAC address.

But with the last option you can see this under the provisioning tab anyway and can currently tally this up with the extension registration status of the extensions page (so long as you do not have multiple devices registered to the same extension).

The phones page on 3CX however will only be able to see currently registered SIP device that have sent an authenticated SIP request to it.

1.) The phones section will display:

• Any clients or devices that were recently turned on and are advertising their presence on the network (appearing in bold)
• Any clients or devices that have recently registered with the PBX

2.) It will not display:

• Any assigned devices that are currently offline/unregistered but have previously been provisioned
• Any assigned devices that are currently offline/unregistered that have yet to be provisioned

If you want to manage devices in category 2.) you have to check your extensions individually and remove any old/discarded devices. Any category 2.) MACs that have already been assigned to existing extensions will not allow you to assign them to another extension unless removed from the older one. This is true even if you reset the device and try to assign it to another extension, you will be informed that it belongs elsewhere.

If I could post in ideas, that's where this would have gone.
What I'm asking about is something along the lines of being able to show offline hardware endpoints in the phones view.
