Local Transcribe - Transcriptions are gibberish

Having a strange issue with our local transcription server.

Transcriptions are coming back very short and with no real words that were said.
Tried reboot and Reinstalling with the install command. no change

3cx: Version 20.0 Update 8 (Build 1109 Release) Hosted by 3CX
Transcribe: Hosted on site.

Stereo Recordings sound fine when i play back on my PC

We have seen this sort of output when there is silence on the call, and the transcriber tries to "transcribe" background noise. One might suspect a one-way-audio call.

Is this for ALL calls? Or is this intermittent?

Every single call. For almost a month.(it was working before.

I downloaded the audio files and confirmed stereo audio is there.

FYI for anyone else. This ended up being a RAM issue on the server(One bad stick). The tell was Segmentation Faults.

How did you trace it to that ?

Wouldn't segmentation faults cause lockups ?

Did anything fail in 3CX logs ?

Kevin was the one who originally found it while diagnosing parts of it. He advised doing a memcheck which actually came back passed. While doing a clean install on the system I kept getting multiple errors when compiling and installing packages. I removed 1 stick of ram and suddenly all my problems went away.

Honestly I'm fairly new to the world of linux so without Kevins help i would have still be lost. May have eventually tried the ram but like you said, It posted and ran mostly fine so I wouldn't have suspected it.

I would have thought NIX could handle hardware issues better than Windows.
Looks like I might be wrong.

RAM chips that are faulty at the hardware level simply cannot be handled by software - the software will try to read memory and get garbled results, which is why segfaults happen.

The ONLY way to mitigate such things is with server-class memory modules with ECC, but in any case, once the ECC part starts catching and correcting problems, all you get is an early-warning system, and your best path is ALWAYS to find the offending module and replace it.
