I have just upfraded 3CX to v20, and I must have forgotten the email address I assigned to the system owner user. I still have his username and password, but I can't use them to login, and I can't also find out his extension!

The forgot password doesn't seem to work, as I'm not getting any emails when I use it with the username.

and to make it even worse, this user is the only one having the system owner role in my installation.

Any help please?

Do you have access to a backup file? The extension would be marked in the xml file. Login is via extension number.

If an email is not unique 3CX won’t send a password reset email.

unfortunatly, I don't have a backup.. everything was so smooth for 3 years before I deceded to upgrade.

is there anyway to find the extention of the owner user?

You haven't really explained how you have their username and password and yet can't use those to log in. Do you mean they aren't correct? In which case you don't have them.

If you can't get logged in, get access to the email or get access to a backup then I don't think you can fix this on your own.

If this system is in any way important to you, you need to get a partner to help and advise you now and going forward as you're not currently making good decisions. If you're unwilling to do this your only option is to raise (and pay for) a support ticket.

@INI-EG Can you log in at the console/SSH? Then look in /var/lib/3cxpbx/Instance1/Data/Backups.

Hi @INI-EG

We suggest raising a support ticket to check the issue.

Hello, I have the same problem with the web interface. I can no longer log in. Back then I blocked the interface to an IP address. can I change that somehow? Thanks!

I blocked the interface to an IP
If you have console restrictions they will apply to the web client admin. If the server has a private IP try connecting from its LAN, or maybe its subnet. RFC1918 IPs are allowed by default.

Thank you!

This actually worked and I managed to find the extension and the assigned email for the system owner in the backup file. I tried logging in, but the system refused my password. When I try to reset the password, the system is not able to send the email notification due to the following error:

The following error occurred when trying to send an email with subject ‘3CX Notification: Password recovery for xxxx.3cx.xxx’ to ‘[email protected]’ : Authentication unsuccessful, the user credentials were incorrect.

Anyway to change the email settings without accessing the system owner? or any way to make another user a system owner using SSH?

Hmm not sure. Custom SMTP then? You may need to open a support ticket.

Is that ext logged in on anyone’s browser? It stays logged in until actively logged out, or I think it expires at some point but it’s at least a couple weeks it seems.
