Make 3CX More Online Backup Friendly

Online backup is capturing more data recovery market share every single day - 3CX needs to be more online backup friendly.

The automated backup system names the most recent backup '3CXScheduledBackup.zip' and then renames each previous backup with a reverse incremental numbering system like this:

Current backup: 3CXScheduledBackup.zip
Previous Day: 3CXScheduledBackup1.zip
Two Days Ago: 3CXScheduledBackup2.zip
etc etc

This reverse numbering system effectively changes the content of the file '3CXScheduledBackup1.zip' every single day - and all of the other files as well. Online backup systems therefore will see the file as changed each day and force the upload of each and every backup file every day and will keep copies of all of these for whatever versioning period the backup system uses.

To be more online backup friendly, the automated backup system in 3CX should append the date (or similar) to the file name and keep track of them. In this manner, '3CXScheduledBackup18042019' gets uploaded only a single time. It cuts down on storage, bandwidth and aggravation.

I totally agree. Also, support for more Cloud storage (like OneDrive or AWS S3) because right now it only has Google Drive or FTP.

To have a secure backup we need to have more than one location available simultaneously , and more than one backup scheduled task.

We should mix where and when to backup for example:
pair days on google cloud dailys backup
impair days on other cloud

weekly on FTP for example
Monthly on FTP " "

This scenario is more comfortable to let us always a good backup available.

So 3CX doesn't stop you from using any backup software you want against the local backup or from using more than one. And if your backup files are so massive that re-uploading them is a problem, perhaps you should switch to block levels so something so simple as renaming doesn't cause this issue.I don't want 3CX working on backups, I want them working on the phone system. Backups have been solved long ago many times over.

In most of the case 3CX phone system is surely not used 24/7 with massive calls to treat , so make some backup in tied period is not so idiot. if 3CX thaught their product don't need internal backup system, why they put one?
Finally if this system can manage backup with best features why not ?

In 3CX lots of improvements important or not are waited since a long time and are always not done today, just have to read ideas forum to see how long the list is. Sometimes for very basic features.

I'm not sure what exactly you are trying to say but the point is you can use the 3CX backup system you backup to a local folder or Google Drive or FTP and then you can use any number of tools to backup those files to one or more locations simultaneously. You can also use the command line backup to make more than one backup a day. So you can already do what you want to do, just not in the UI. And you are proving my point with your reference to ideas section. As you said, there are a lot of PBX features requested, some basic, some important, and many for a long time that haven't been included. So the last thing I want to do is have them spend any development time on the backup UI when everything that you mention can already be done.

I just wanted to say , like others features in 3CX, backup can be improved, surely this is not a DEV priority but why not dreaming for something working better. Isn't it the same expected for all 3cx features?

I don't think the developers will rush to spend any dev time just reading this post that is not voted in the IDEAS forum. Don't worry the developers will stay focused on their assigned tasks.
