Hi All,

Until the Google cloud image / script is updated from 16 to 18 I have a small issue.

I need to restore a v18 backup to Google cloud. (There is a story behind this) however I created a new 3cx instance in our Google cloud account, SSH into it, performed a sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade, however it basically breaks and 3cx is never to be seen again.

Are there any official (or unofficial) steps to perform a deb AND 3cx update?

Many thanks

Sean

Deploy 3CX v16 (do not restore backup during setup)
Update from within 3cx to v18
Upload and Restore backup

@Sean_Glasspool did the upgrade from MC and then restore the backup on top work ?

In essence yes.
I had to create a trial key. Deploy, update, then issue "sudo /usr/sbin/3CXWizard --cleanup" via SSH and repeat setup wizard, this time using my backup.

@Sean_Glasspool glad that everything worked !!
In order to avoid all this next time, just go to Google Marketplace and then just open the Wizard on your browser, that's it. We do everything on the background.
Then after you upgrade your machine you upload your backup on top by either uploading to the machine backup path or via FTP, sFTP or Google bucket.

Hi Nikos,

Yeah - been doing 3CX for a few years now. I was hoping to avoid creating a new FQDN and Key just to import a backup. Maybe a feature request could be "do you want to update this system before importing?"

Cheers

Sean

@Sean Glasspool in order to setup a 3CX PBX, you need to have a license key and FQDN which will bind to that key and eventually the ip address of the instance, there is no other way.
But this backup you have, you took it from a PBX so its either you will use that key from the PXB you took the backup from, or create a new one.
