Hi Guys,

I want to migrate my customer to Linux.

They have 100GB call recordings and backing this up would take an age.

Can I just copy the audio files from A to B and have the same audit trail listed under call recording on the linux install?

Thanks.

I'd upgrade to v16 which has a separate recording management capability. You should be able to move the recordings to an agnostic path (NAS, etc) and then backup/restore just the config. I'd confirm with 3CX support though.

Judging by an article I just read, it's a case of moving them from the default location to a external location, backup without recordings, restore then copy back to default location. Does this apply for Linux too?

@YiannisH_3CX can you please confirm this?

Does call reporting link to recording by the ID each wav file gets? No wav file = no play button? or is there a table that flags said call logs as recorded?

You can do this, but you have to make sure that after moving the recordings you give read/write permissions to the phonesystem user.

This was for version 15.5 - I am not sure how that will work with the V16 as that writes info to the DB on each recording (hence the conversation in V16).

Hello @kieferschild

Are you migrating from V15.5 to V16 or V15.5 to V15.5 or V16 to V16?

Hi @YiannisH_3CX Whatever is best.

At the moment Windows is 15.5 but I can upgrade that to v16 first If it makes things easier?

otherwise, i'd be going v15.5 to v16

As the recordings have changed in V16 there is an extra step you need to do so here is what i would do:

  • Take a backup of V15.5 windows without recordings
  • Stop services on this machine
  • Install V16 PBX on Linux and restore your backup.
  • Create your recordings folder and move your recordings over to Linux
  • Then navigate to settings parameters and add the following parameter "RECS_SYNC_REQUIRED" and set value to "1".
  • Then navigate to your Dashboard and click on the convert recordings button.

Once it done and you made sure everything is working you can then delete the Windows installation.

(If the recordings were included in the backup then this parameters would be auto created by the PBX)
