I see previous post from 2020 (https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/missing-qr-code-in-welcome-email.70003/page-2#post-319964) issue seems to be raising its head again, no QR code as attachment, System is up2date (18.0 (Build 917))

Seems the format has been changed, 3CX now expects users to log into the web interface to access the QR code for their mobile app, instead of including it in the email.

Probably not a smart move, in my opinion.

(especially when they have been getting the code for a while now)

Hi downundarob,

Kindly note that the QR codes will no longer be sent in a welcome email. Therefore users will be required to scan the QR codes from the webclient.
Part of our obligation is to keep the 3CX users safe and this is the reason for 3CX to take this move.

Do you think some reference in the email may be worthwhile that the QR code is no longer attached, end users who have been using 3CX for some time have had this change imposed on them and is unexpected, (and in the cases I have dealt with, not notified).

Not every customer uses the 3CX Communication System in the same way. Some customers use the mobile apps, some don't.
Therefore we rely on the partners to keep their customers informed accordingly.
What's more, it was indicated back in April that more security procedures will be implemented - blog post, so it was not really an unexpected change.

Well the communications certainly failed for my client base, they are used to seeing emails with QR codes attached, or even embedded and then one day, no QR code.

It certainly wouldn't hurt, to include in the welcome email, especially on this version where the change has been implemented a brief sentence that covers the fact that QR codes are no longer included in the email, would make life so much easier and this conversation wouldn't have been happening.

And now this.....

Understanding the risk, the admin of the on perm 3cx setup should be allowed to opt into showing QR code in the welcome email. this should be an option to the admin.

You could always change the parameter of ATTACH_3CXCONFIG_WELCOMEEMAIL for now. I doubt it will stick around though.

it would be nice to have an option to add QR back to the welcome email as well as the password as long as the admin opts in for it. i will use the 1 option you stated for now. thank you for that.

I would say at least give us the option whether to keep the QR code in the welcome e-mail or not. A lot of our clients don't use the webclient much and just use the app on their cell phone. While I do understand the security aspect of it. I just wish we were informed in an email from 3CX that the QR code was no longer in welcome emails so we can update our clients.
