MOH quality

I am finding MOH is quite poor quality
I have replaced default with a royalty free file that sounds good when played back directly, but when used as MOH sounds very tinny & with clips & jumps. I've tried MP3 & Wav formats and they just sound the same.
Can someone advise the best format to use or give suggestions to improve the quality

Keep in mind it is translating it to the relatively poor audio quality of a telephone call. It's never going to sound as good as the original files when played with a media player.

Create audio files in the format: WAV, PCM, 8 KHz, 16Kbps Bitrate are the recommendations by 3CX

You forgot to specify software/hardware environment...
Do you have the same problems with default MOH?
