Hello all.

We will be the new MSP for a company that has a 3CX Instance in-place at the previous MSP's Datacenter. We will be moving their instance to the cloud. This will be the first backup / restore that I will be doing myself, so I'm trying to work out some details and options...

1. If I perfrom a Backup including the License and FQDN, and use PBX Express to Restore that Backup to the new Instance, will I need to ReProvision the phones? Or will they continue to function, as it will basically be the same environment and FQDN?

1. I've read that there are some limitations and requirements to use 3CX Hosted Cloud, as opposed to Google Cloud (which we currently use). Can anyone offer any advise on if 3CX is better for any reason?

Thanks in advance. If this is a duplicate post I apologize, please redirect me to the correct one.

Hi,

1) assuming that your PBX is already on the Cloud and provisioned as remote extensions (SBC) then when you will install the PBX then the A Record of the FQDN will update and phones will connect to the new PBX.
Ensure that on your SBC you have Google DNS and not local one, it will update faster.

2) Please check here for what limitations exist : https://www.3cx.com/ordering/pricing/hosted-info/
As on why 3cx is better, as first step you will not have to pay your hosting provider as hosting is included in the price of your license key.
Also you won't have to worry for OS updates or critical security updates that can be released as emergencies.
Our Cloud Team will do this for you.
You will be able to control your PBXs via your customer portal from Instances section as usual.
For any incident that might happen Cloud Team will take care of your Instance and you will not have to worry about to rebuild it or try to find your last backups and so on, we take care of this.

If you have any further questions, let us know.
