Moving from on-prem to AWS

Hello everyone,

I have an instance where I will be moving from on-prem to an AWS instance. I have read as much as I can, and want to run the plan by everyone here that will read it to see if I am right in my thinking.

1. Update on-prem to v16 latest
2. Backup on-prem configuration without FQDN/License
3. Shutdown on-prem
4. Load AWS instance and restore from the backup
5. (VPN is between AWS and On-Prem to appear local) Change DHCP options for the provisioning address
6. Cycle phones and test

I feel I may be missing something, but can't find a guide that helps with this, though I am sure its common.

That's basically the gist of it. You can keep the license/FQDN in the backup in this case. Doing it without mainly gives you flexibility to change/replace at the time of install. You aren't doing that in this case so you can save yourself a step during the install.

I am pretty sure I won't need an SBC since the AWS is 24/7 VPN tied right?

Correct. SBC would be used instead of the VPN. It could be used in conjunction with a VPN but that's typically not the use case. With larger installs a VPN is a more common setup.
