Hello,

I try to use the multiline Tapi, but it just wont work.
The ini file is configured - in the software I want to use it, the lines appear, but are marked as "not online".

Where does the TAPI driver know from where to find the 3cx IP?
It is not in the same subnet.

Thanks,
Steffen Maier

Hello @Steffen Maier,

The 3CX TAPI Service Provider works with the 3CXPhone for Windows client. It will not connect to the 3CX server directly, instead it connects to 3CXPhone running locally, and 3CXPhone will connect to 3CX.

Using TAPI you can do this:
- You can make outbound calls.
- You can drop an established call.
- You can receive a notification of an inbound call ringing at your extension.

Please ensure that 3CXPhone is configured with the same extension that you configured in the TAPI.ini file.

Kind regards.

Thank you, the problem was, that I needed the Pro licence (but I got no error message).

Now, the first line works, (thats the one I am connected with the client) but not all the other lines.
Do I have to provision all the users I would like to connect in the 3cx client?

> Update: That also does not help, if I provision another user, then that line works, but other one no more.

You need to configure the file 3CXTAPI.ini with all the users that will be using TAPI in that PC.

Thats what I did.

Are you using a Terminal Server? Do you have many users running in the same machine? Please explain your scenario in more detail so we can understand what's going on...

No, a normal server. I would like to control all the phones from this server.

TAPI works with the 3CXPhone for Windows client. And this client needs to be configured with an extension. If you close 3CXPhone and configure a different extension, TAPI will stop working for the previous extension.

Usually, you install 3CXPhone for Windows and TAPI in the agent PC. So each agent has its own 3CXPhone and TAPI instances. You can do the same in a terminal server, but in this case all the instances will be running in the same server at the same time, under different sessions.

So is there a way to have a global TAPI Driver like on panasonic pbxs?
I need this so I can use a Software like Estos Procall

No, TAPI runs on the client side in 3CX. You need to configure it for each extension if you want to be able to make calls via TAPI from those extensions.

If you want to have everything in the same server, you need a Terminal Server, and 3CXPhone running for each agent in a different session.
