on asterisk the new PJSIP driver allows multiple devices to register with the same extension. How can I do this under 3cx?

thanks leon

Hello @Leon Zetekoff

Just edit an extension and add anew device under the phone provisioning tab. You can even auto provision multiple devices under the same extension

ok I had it right. how come when I dial that extension, it goes right to VM? instead of ringing the other extensions?

Let us know if you face any issues.

Do any of the extensions show as being available? Is a set using DND (active)?

In what scenario are you trying this? Are the phones registered to the PBX? Did you use the 3CX templates to provision the phones or did you manually provisioned them?
Give us some details regarding the installation so we are better able to help

hi there....manually provisioning..the cut-n-paste above is from the pbx. I need multiple sip accounts per phone and the templates only allow one; that's a story for another separate message.

the phone are registered to the pbx. from one device on 715 I dial 715 and go directly to VM even though the other devices on 715 are on hook waiting.

I get a message "record your message and press # or press * to get to the operator"
I just tried this with just one GS phone and the windows client I saw 715 show up on the client when I got the recording.

Thanks leon

Normally SIP forking should ring all sets registered. However, if 3CX sees one of the sets as busy (or in another state for some reason) you may need to (if you haven't already done so), set the extension options to allow more than one call.

Are these sets all local to the 3CX server?

allow multiple calls is checked?

hi folks....ok allow more than one call is in FORWARDING RULES NOT OPTIONS. GOt that set now thanks

Glad to see the issue has been resolved. However why are you dialling the same extension from the same extension?
And as far as i understand you have multiple devices on the same extension and multiple accounts on each set?
Please note that the configuration you are running is not supported and if you face any issues our support department will not be able to assist you.

right now there is one account per device but we normally have multiple accounts setup since there are house accounts, office accounts all to the same pbx.

Why is this not supported?

Thanks

Having multiple accounts per device is not supported as that requires manual configuration. 3CX supports devices that were provisioned using one of the supported methods.
If you are running one account on each device then that is ok.
