Hi

I have an install that is currently setup with 3 SIP Trunks each with a different Outbound Caller ID, so dependant on what Outbound Caller ID they want they route calls down the required SIP Trunk (adding a digit onto the front of the number). The only issue with this is they have 3 different SIP Trunks with a capacity of 1, so if someone else calls in on that SIP Trunk they can't get through. Plus they only really need 2 simultaneous calls for the amount of people working there.

Is it possible for an extension to change their Outbound Caller ID on the fly?

Hello @Philip Darnell

Please note that currently there is no way of changing Caller IDs on the fly. To have multiple outbound caller IDs you need to have multiple trunks. Can't the trunk channels be increased to 2 so that the issue is avoided in your scenario?

There is no native 3CX way to do it short of leaving the extension web interface open and changing/saving everytime. Your other option is something like this:

https://www.voiptools.com/product/3cx-caller-id-new/

Thanks for the link, the amount of usage they have on the phones won't justify the cost of VoipTools.

The capacity could be increased to 2 but there are only 2 of them who work in the office, and are already paying for 3 SIP trunks, so they're not keen on increasing to 6 when we were looking at reducing it to 2, I will speak to them and suggest there are no other options at present time.

Depending on what phones you have,

Created three virtual extensions, and add them to the line keys on the phone - may have to be done manually and not by provisioning

For example - ext 900 will be assigned to line key 1
ext 901 will be assigned to line key 2
ext 902 will be assigned to line key 3.

On outbound rules, create rules by checking the extension the call is coming from to push the calls down the correct SIP depending on the virtual extension.

When the users press line key1, you will router calls down the correct SIP using the outbound rules created above. Pressing line key2 or line key3, will route down the other SIP lines
