Having multiple departments on the same 3CX box, is there a way to have a display name per department. For now, it’s setup to use the user’s display name.

Would it be possible to have one display name per Group?

If not, is there a work around to achieve this?

Thanks for your help.

Hi SebDomSD

So for example do you mean that if Sarah from Accounting calls you, you want to see the name displayed on your screen as "Accounting: Sarah Peterson" ?

Actually, I've wrote department but I should have said maybe Business Unit.

Let say I have one BU named ABC and the other one named DEF. They are in 2 different groups.

Would it be possible that when Sarah (from BU ABC) dial outs, the display name would be ABC and when John (from BU DEF) calls, it displays DEF?

In other words, we can specify the Outbound Caller ID in extension. Is it possible to do the same with the "Outbound Display Name ID" (if I can call it this way)? Or is it a general option in the SIP Trunk setting and the way it set affects all users using that SIP Trunk?

Hope my instructions are more clear.

Thanks for your help, it's appreciated.

Sebastien

What is your incoming lines setup ?

Do you have SIP trunk with two separate numbers associated , or two SIP accounts for the two business units.

You can add 'Outbound Caller ID' to each extension, but you need to check if your provider allows you to overwrite the cli

So are we referring to the name appearing on external calls specifically from your company's two departments, going out to 3rd parties?

Or do you mean when one dept. calls the other internally?

I have 1 SIP Trunk with multiple DIDs.

Yes

For now, it's the first name and last name that is displayed. But I would rather to be the BU name to be displayed. Since there is more than one, I don't know if this is possible.

Understood. if we are talking strictly about external calls, this will depend on the provider as @Saqqara pointed out. If they already allow it, you can follow the suggestion and test it.

Add an outbound caller ID to an extension, and change your outbound Parameters on the trunk (if needed) to reflect that.

11033

Don't forget of course that it also depends on the receiving provider too, some may allow this some may not and will either display the trunk number or use CNAM database depending on what your country's providers do.

I'm not talking about the CallerID but the CallerDisplayName.

Sorry, English is not my mother tongue and my request is not easy to express. Thanks for bearing with me.

For now, if Sarah calls, her First Name and Last Name will be displayed with the main ABC BU DID number.

I would like that the BU name be displayed instead of the First Name and Last Name.

But since I have more than one BU, is it possible that when John dials out, the DEF BU name be displayed?

Thanks

Please try the above as I mentioned in my previous post, I was referring to the Display Name.

Outbound caller ID can be alphanumeric in the extension settings.

I will test it shortly and will get back to you.

Thanks
