Need additional user account on Office 365 for 3CX Phoneboox Sync?

Hi! I have upgraded to Pro and am excited to try to sync my Office 365 contacts to 3CX, version 15.5. The first step seems to be to create an impersonated account. Unless I am missing something, the procedure described would necessitate us having to buy another Office 365 user, which costs around $180 per year. Is there any way around this?

Free free to ask Microsoft that but I'm guessing the answer is no. So you'll have to decided if it's worth $180/year for this feature or not.

Well, I suppose I could buy 3CX a Business Essentials License, since I assume 3CX doesn't need to use the desktop apps .

But I wonder about using a shared mailbox, which doesn't require a license.

If you can hang on for V16, you don't need to use an impersonation account at all - the integration is done via Microsoft Graph.

Yes there is, as I followed it to set up the same thing last week - but I can't seem to find it now!

V16 allows for the synchronization via API without having to burn a user account. Since it is beta 1, I would suggest that sometime very soon™ the final release will be out and your problems will be solved.

I had the opportunity to play with V16 on a test server and setup the sync in about 10 minutes without any problems.

Just hang tight. It's coming.

I agree, but I'd rather 3CX released a rock-solid product than rush production. Let's give them the time they need to make sure it exceeds expectation.

Even with 3rd party CSP's, there should still be a master Microsoft Portal account. If you have access to that, you should have the access you need.

Actually it doesn't make a difference. If you want this right now on v15.5, you WILL need a user account to access the system. The licence can be the most basic one that has access to Exchange.

If you can wait, wait for v16, the integration is much better!

I agree! I have to say though that v16 B1 is already pretty solid. I think we can expect official release late April.

Some CSPs have their own UI to manage users and licences. But, GoDaddy HAVE TO give the access if asked for.
