Hello,

We have an instance of 3cx that is currently hosted on 3cx Cloud Servers. There seems to be minimal information about connecting and pulling the CDR files.

I have tried passive and active modes, and I have tried multiple ports, but I do not seem to get a connection.

If anyone has a link to more detailed steps or could help me out, that would be fantastic!

Thanks!

"CDR Logs only via Passive Socket mode" (which the PBX sends to a listening address and port.)

I appreciate the reply. Unfortunately I have already reviewed the existing information provided by 3cx and have not had success.

That is why I am looking for more of a step by step/how-to from someone with success with a hosted instance.

Passive should work fine with something like filezilla, but clearly there is some settings that need to be changed because it does not just "work" when you enter the correct information.

Hi,

in order to post the CDR records to your own server, you need to setup the Hosted by 3CX instance as CDR client (Dashboard > Reporting > CDR). Once you have set the hosted instance as a client/Active Socket, set the destination server IP and the Port where you expect the records to be sent.

That would be an active socket though correct? 3CX hosted says it only supports passive socket.

Yes correct, that would be the active socket. However, the article from our KB indicates that you cannot use the Passive socket on our hosted platform as no modification can be done on the server side - thus the instance needs to be setup as the client which will then point to the IP address and tcp port of the CDR server that is managing your CDR requirements.

Might wanna change the restrictions list to be more clear about that part. I too read that the passive was the only one accessible...

Maybe change Passive to Active in the KB article :)

Ok so maybe there is just some really bad grammer here?

the "YOU CANT DO THINGS" list states:
  • CDR Logs only via Passive Socket mode
This would imply, that you don't get CDR logs, unless it is via passive socket. which makes sense since you cant do the direct downloads either since it is not supported.

Are you saying that this actually instead is meant to mean you can only use ACTIVE mode?

Yeap, on Hosted by 3CX instances only Active socket can be used :)

Just remember, if your socket goes down for ANY reason (client software, internet connection, etc.) you will lose data and there is no way to get it back. If you are going to rely on the accuracy of this information for reports, updating CRM, etc., you have to be prepared to have some missing data from time to time. If that is not acceptable, you will need to look for alternative solutions other than the IP socket approach.
