Hi there, i have just purchased the ENT licence so we can setup the failover feature, im planning on running two servers behind a firewall in our datacentre, the idea is should one server fail the other will take over.

is this possible as they both would have internal IP's and essentially have the same external IP (after the firwall)

if this is possible how do i know which server is active, when i configure the failover server i used a backup in order to configure it which seemed fine but there is no local portal to let me know which server is doing the work.

Kind regards

Justin

I did look at this first but its not very clear how you tell which server is active.

Hello @corporate2

What you setup failover one server is set as active, the other is set to passive. Setting a server to passive will cause the not needed services to stop.
When the failover is triggered you will get a mail that services have stopped. Then the failover server will take over and it will stay on until you manually stop it and start the primary server again. So you should always know service is running.

Keep in mind if your Active server goes down, sometimes the the sip server is still running, this may cause calls to route to that server. Make sure attend to a failover asap.
