New 3CX Windows Softphone

I tried again with a fresh install. I noticed, that my extension is not available, even when the client is started. I cannot make any calls. The rest is working fine (i see call logs, blfs etc.)
After creating another extension, the client is working with that profile. However, it's still not controllable, like the legacy app was controllable (you cannot hold, transfer or even dial tones).

I'm suprised, that I can still provision the desktop app with that method. Looks like it is working. Just noticed, that the admin portal is missing, which is not very surprising.
You need to click the bell icon, on the top left of the webclient.

Is there a reason why when using Jabra headsets with V16 client the display on the headset displays who is calling on the screen (Jabra Engage 75 in this instance) but all newer clients just display "Softphone" - seems like a huge backwards step?

Great update today! Being able to control a fixed phone is a much requested feature.
They quick access icons in the dialer are a great addition for the users.

Keep up te good work :D

Will users only be able to control the deskphone as it is stated in the article or also a smartphone (like it is possible currently in the 3CX Desktop App or Web App)?

Smartphone appears in my list

Why are the busylights actually displayed alternately? Is it just to mimic the technical problems of an outdated phone? If all the busylights were one below the other, the list would be clearer.

I always notice that when I make a call and switch to another view in the client during the call, e.g. call list, I always have to switch back to the dial pad to hang up.
It would be great if the call keys were always active in every view of the 3CX Client.

Great idea, maybe post this to the ideas section? I'll back it up for sure

Great to see this update and ability to control desk phones. I believe chat is coming too? If it could look more like the web/PWA app and do everything it can to, it would be ideal. Also some kind of quick way to configure it without needing to know the hostname maybe? Deploying it via intune or group policy is also possible but can we set those details up centrally so the user just needs to login?

We are currently running v18 and use the desktop app. From what I've seen, after upgrading to v20, we will have to switch to using some combination of the new windows app, the web client, and/or the PWA app in order to obtain all of the same functionality we currently have in the desktop app. This is frustrating and I'm sure our users will not be happy with this change unless additional functionality is added to the new clients. It looks like the windows app already has the ability to launch an external application on connect, which is a necessary feature for us and why we currently cannot use the web client or the PWA app. So the only solution in v20 seems to be the new windows app, however it's missing a couple of important features for us. Can someone provide clarification on whether the following features will be added to the new windows app at some point?

1) Built-in SMS and Chat so it doesn't redirect to the web client. Redirecting to a separate app for chat is clunky and should be a built-in feature like it currently is in the desktop app.

2) Integration to open a contact in a supported CRM via the client app. We're in the process of switching to Zoho CRM and currently utilize SQL contact integration server-side in order to incorporate contact data from multiple systems. Additionally, only certain departments utilize Zoho CRM, so integrating it server-side doesn't make sense for us. The ability to open the Zoho Contact via the desktop app works like a charm in our testing, though.

I understand we can use multiple apps such as the new windows app and the web client in order to retain all of this functionality, however the desktop app already provides all of this functionality and we have been really happy with it. I can assure you no one will be excited about using multiple apps in the future. While I can appreciate the need to continue to innovate and improve software along with the framework used to build them, from a user perspective this does not feel like an improvement. If continuing to maintain the desktop app through v20 is not an option 3CX is willing to consider, I truly hope you will provide us with a single solution that at least provides all of the same functionality as the software it intends to replace.

Thank you to the devs and everyone at 3CX who continue to innovate and improve upon the software. We've been extremely happy with 3CX since we switched from our prior system 3 years ago.

@jbarrett Chat is planned for the new Windows softphone. No ETA yet, but they are moving quickly.

If you only have one CRM solution users can set CRM Integration Off. If you need to run more than one CRM they do plan to move server-side CRM to Departments. You could also place CRM users in a department with CRM enabled, and the others in departments that do not have it configured - very helpful if CRM integration is on be default for new users.
