New Android Beta App with Updated UI, Call Encryption and Reconnection

Meanwhile... Rome was not built in a day..What's the rush exactly.. Make calls with the one you have now..
It's just that the Android one is always out first and iOS betas are slow. What's the rush? I like being on the edge, is that bad? What if I just want the videocall feature or the new UI?

Android already has 2 builds ahead of iOS. It's just sad.

The ios comes late because the current IOS on the app store happens to be in a good shape.
The concept is commonly referred to as Prioritization. which is the activity that arranges items or activities in order of importance FIRST.
Yes The android client needs 2 or 3 updates because the current one on the store is close to reach a point where it will not be sustainable. This is because of the nature of Android, OS and Devices.

The IOS will come when its ready. There is no rush for ios because the current app is OK. And if you are an ios user, you know it's ok.

So Now this thread is about Android APP. This is what we have to offer now.

Additional to what Nicky said, there are also several factors to be mentioned here:

- the different platforms. A feature which can be done on one platform in 10 mins could require two weeks on the other one.

- OS/manufacturer fragmentation. Android is spreaded on several manufacturers, all having their own customization of various OS versions. On iOS you have one manufacturer, latest OS is used by ~90% of users, all models are virtually identical. So, accordingly, the iOS client is virtually more "stable" than its Android counterpart because its platform is more stable.

- since I mentioned the OS, do not forget Apple will release iOS 13 in about two weeks. I thinks it's a healthy approach to test also the client on the official platform, and not only the beta, before releasing it. as a fun fact, Apple released 8 developer betas of iOS 13, plus one for iOS 13.1.

- during time, several times happened to have either Android, either iOS client "ahead" - we used the feedback it got not only to improve it, but also the one a little "behind". Especially when we're about to launch also a PBX update.

....................................................................................................................................................................... Там нет спешки для ios, потому что текущее приложение в порядке. И если вы являетесь пользователем ios, вы знаете, что это нормально.

the ios app is not OK at all. I can't use more than one call on it. and that's the main feature that doesn't work. and all this has been known for a long time.

No the ios works and does it's job well - you must be expecting something illegal to ios/callkit or have an incomplete configuration.
Elaborate what you mean by Can't use more than one call? Sip call? Sip call and GSM? Maybe you need to dig into forwarding rules and configure your extension to accept multiple calls? What happens when the second call comes in? Does it go to Voicemail?

I have the option "accept more than one call"enabled. when I get an incoming call and answer - everything works fine. During this conversation, I get a second call on 3CX, answer it with the first hold - with the second caller there is no sound in both directions. I return to the first call-the sound is also not in both directions. This happens if the first call was received when my IPhone was locked. All subscribers within the network.
all this is described here https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/3cx-and-gsm.61882

Bug is noted and something internally with callkit. We will put this issue to higher priority and work on it.

I've been waiting 10 months. how long do we have to wait?

Is there a way that we can get Status grouping back? We have multiple sites with bridges between and it is handy to show who is in what site.

Hi agreed - this control was removed because it was heavy.
However we plan to tag users in groups. Lets wait for a while until we devise a solution.
As a starting improvement the next android beta coupled with update 3 will give full contact resolution in an instant to bridged presence contacts.

Lets see how that turns out.

Paurus it is a tricky one - It involves the engine and we cannot move freely due to ios constraints.
This bug will be present for a while. But it is on our radar

Realised as well that we seem to have lost the ability to intercom an extension from the app.

Yes because we are not sure how useful this this feature was..
Intercom depends on a lot of signalling. Especially if it is a paging group. If you want to intercom an extension use paging group and the extension (it takes 1 second).

But to intercom a paging group, well that's a lot of unnecessary sip signalling (each leg must sit and wait for a 200ok to come.. ) that will drain battery and cause high cpu spikes.

Put it in ideas.. Lets see how many people want this..

that my friend is called a simple call in speaker mode.

This is not what paging is about.
Imagine you want to page a doctor - DR X come to reception...yadi yadi.. Imagine you pick up all the sounds from all the intercoms in the hospital.

Now lets be more critical and put in a a real life threatening situation - a fire breaks out in a store and you want to intercom emergency evac.. thats why paging should be UNI directional. So emergency services are CLEAR - 1 way.

I come from asterisk where this is an option (duplex paging). I see your point on intercom broadcast picking up other sound from other areas and had never thought of that.
So getting back on track, is there an easy way to have an intercom extension where people can call back out to you when you dial it from the app?
A few of my sites only have apps in factory phones but they want to call out to a specific area and if anyone is there they can answer back without having to put tools down.

Try (Phone dependent) *9 + extension number
Configure paging server side in dial codes section.

Duplex paging is just a fancy word for Call in speaker mode. Or Auto answer by call info *(which we have - but its very phone dependent.. So it might just ring infinitely.

our *9 funciton uses this.. (needs to be enabled.. Dial codes setting. )

I would like to get some attention for a not new issue with the mobile client:
On Android, if you are in a call using the 3cx client, if another call comes in using the mobile network, the sound of the ringer of the mobile call is not silenced, it simply rings in your ear until the caller gives up or a timout kicks in. Depending on the volume of the ringer you might be tempted to just throw the dammed thing into the next lake.
Is it not possible to either automatically send a busy signal to the incoming call on the GSM network or as an alternative just silence the ringer for the time of the current call?

In similar thread with new build unless it updated without me realising, when on a GSM call and a 3CX call comes in, I would lose all audio on the GSM call.

It even does not help to set the ringer to 0 because then the 3cx phone will also not ring.
My current workaround is to set the ring sound of the system to "silence" and use a custom ring sound using 3cx. But then, I wont be notified of a GSM call when I am not talking. But this is better then constantly beeing annoyed by a loud ringning in my ear (every time someone calls) while trying to talk to a caller.
I would even disable the GSM calling completely (one number where I can be reached is enough). but, if the phone switches from LTE to Edge, a running call is dropped. So, no way to switch to a mobile VoIP only mode.

We are aware of this - we will fix in the next update.
We will also silence the call if you press volume up or down buttons like what happens in a standard dialer call. And we will put emphasis on volume control because volume control is disabled during ringing and connected stage. (hence why people are complaining about low volume)
Thanks for reporting.

Before you throw the phone in the lake tell me what phone it is :P

So, one of the first times I used the chat on the new app, I typed up a long message and went to hit the "send" icon (airplane) but hit the "Voicemail" button instead by accident. To my dismay, the entire message was gone when I went back to the chat window. I'd love it if that wouldn't be lost if you go to another window...maybe saved as a draft would be good.

Other applications overcome this by switching phone to DND when on a call and off DND when call ends. I think Google Dialer even does this on Pixel - might be an easy answer.
