New Idea Request - Profile Image

I went to the New Idea forum to the Web Client section and I was not able to post there, says I do not have sufficient privileges to post there.

So as a company we are new to 3CX - there are a lot of nice features and more functionality from our old phone system.

We do have a request though. When it comes to the look of the in/out board - we would like the ability to change the look a little bit.

I will give you a little background. We were formally using NEC desktop suite, which we like the look of the status a more and little easier on the eye's. As you see below it does not have profile picture and just shows status colors. So at a glance we can see a person's status.
We would like the ability when we change our Status to have it also change our profile picture, so that we can get a similar look. Which is something we would prefer.
Again we really like your product and would not want to go back to NEC, we feel 3CX is far superior with more options, just we would like to taylor it to our preference.
Like for instance below, we have solid green for working in office, have green with H for working at home, green with P for working in Palmer office, solid red for gone, red with black stripes for gone extended, light green for in office busy do not disturb, pink for away.
So if we had the ability to check a box to have it change our profile picture when we change status we could accomplish something similar.
The profile pictures are nice, but not our preference.

I understand that the intent of this post is to submit a request that 3CX include this feature directly in web client.

However, it would be very straightforward to build this as a custom solution. Our wallboard already tracks the agents presence and phone status, and displays this information in real-time. Further, we just built a "Busy Light" solution (USB light you place on the top of your cubicle wall so people can see your status from afar). This light change color based on your status.

My point is that we already have all the functions needed to build this tool. But let's take it a step further. What about environments where you have multiple bridged 3CX servers. We could build one centralized directory that allows you to display/search/filter extensions across multiple 3CX servers. You could group extensions by location, department / group.

Our IT department is currently trying to figure a few things out. I just figured I would reach out 3CX and request an idea, that might help customize the way we would like to use your software.

We are very new to 3CX and I do not know much about the Wallboard, so we can look into that further.

Hi Anthony,

We are glad you are enjoying 3CX! By default you cannot change the photo of the user per-status but the status indicator does appear under each user in the clients:

Webclient - as a status light, and also written on the right hand side

Windows Client


That being said, please note that the Ideas forum is currently restricted to Gold Partners and above (for opening new ideas) and everyone else can vote on the ideas they like.

Thanks for your suggestions and ideas.
Our IT department wrote some code to make the changes we were looking for. Now when we change our status, it will update profile picture. We were just looking for a easy visual of seeing who is in and who is not, office or home location. Also we find it little more pleasing to look at, instead of all separate profile images. Not a knock to the program just a personal preference.

No problem, just be aware that if you face any issues or the system misbehaves, you will have to disable the code you wrote and reload (which I hope runs in the browser as opposed to modifying the PBX directly)

I am not the code writer, so not clear on all the details. I do believe it is working on the back end, do not believe there was a modification to the PBX directly. They were in contact with 3CX with options available. We have been running it now for at least two weeks with no problems. If your curious, I can talk with our IT and find out more details.

We had to work with my developer to write front end java script injection, which is a bit more complicated. If they reach out through my companies website www.stratus-services.com I can work with them to write some custom code that would work for them too.
