Good evening folks, I have set up a hosted 3CX PBX system. Everything mostly seems to be working smoothly and I purchased a couple of Snom phones ( D345 and D375 ) to replace some Cisco SPA514G to make use of STUN auto provisioning.

This phone system has a single number which then has a ring group to all extensions. These extensions all have the local voicemail disabled and will make use of a shared voicemail box.

This is replacing a FreePBX system where I created a Dummy user, then set up this additional extension to show the voicemail status on each phone.

I am looking to replicate this functionality as simply as possible, there seems to be spatterings of information around, but simply I need a shared voicemail box with a status on each phone and a single button to access it.

Is this possible and if so how can I achieve it?

I managed to get it mostly working with the following:

It isn't perfect since when there are no voicemails it still asks me to enter a number, but the light appears to be working.

Now I am attempting to get out of office voicemail working, simply I want to press a button to enable / disable voicemail. This seems to be achievable using custom dial codes and BLF. I have fairly simple requirements:

Busy voicemail through the day
Out of office voicemail in the evening

However doing this with forwarding rules on the voicemail dummy extension doesn't seem to work that well. It seems to ignore the 'out of office' parameter if its manually enabled and disabled.

It seems odd that these features are not more standard.

Configure office hours, (under settings) on the incoming sip / trunk setup the routing for the office hours and out of hours.
Setup a dummy extension for out of hours, with the required voicemail

You can also bypass the office hours settings by dial *64 https://www.3cx.com/docs/pbx-dial-codes/

So this ends up with 2 dummy extensions then rather than just the one, and then no easy way to check voicemails from each handset.

in trunk settings, if you enabled office hours, in office hours you set your RG as destination and out of office you set an IVR with no choice streaming your night message and forwarding to your voicemail choice.

This does end up playing both voicemail messages, but it works well enough I can work around that.

Think this may be functional enough to roll out to replace this old FreePBX system if I change a custom template to set up the second line on each phone for voicemail.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated!

if you have not so much phone to add a second extension , you can do this directly on phone GUI, on Snom it works perfectly , have two phones with this done a 720 and D785, second account is not wiped by automatic provisionning each 24h
