Hi

Quick question if i may..

We are about to deploy our first cloud 3CX instance (Lightsail) - I am assuming on the customer's site I will need an SBC for the deskphones?

(Or at least SBC is best practice?)

Many thanks!

Hi @DaveA66

Yes the SBC is a very good solution which is free, simple to deploy and now is also manageable via your 3CX management console.

If it's 1-2 deskphones you can also use STUN but the SBC gives better stability due to the tunnel protocol. As the customer's needs grow the SBC can cater for them better and can be upgraded accordingly.

Great, thanks for the reply.

It's only 9 users, so was going to use a Pi

Should be fine for 9 users, just keep in mind it has to be a 3B+ model.

Pi4 is not supported at the moment.

Great thanks.

I have a couple of 3B+ in my office still not used from a previous (non 3CX) project

Almost you have spare part :p

So I tesed with a deployment on Lightsail, which was surprisingly easy and set up an SBC on a Pi in the office. Connected a handset no problem.
However calls to/from the handset to a mobile app results in one way speech.
The desk phone cant hear anything, but can hear OK if it calls the voicemail, for example.
Any ideas?

in extensions options do you have set PBX delivers audio

Call *777 which is the echo test between the phone and the PBX.

Try it on both the app and the deskphone first to ensure they have 2-way communication with the PBX first.

So I now have 2 deskphones behind the SBC - they can talk to each other fine.
Both seem to work with *777 (a bit like sidetone, right?)
The app get dead air so I'm guessing the problem is the app?
This is a Lightsail deployement could it be a firewall issue?

PBX delivers audio did not help, I think the problem is the app

Yes the app seems to be the problem here. The *777 is like side tone yes, it echoes back your voice in a device-pbx-device route fashion.

Ensure that the app has tunnel enabled (under the extension settings) and reprovision it. Once the tunnel is up the next call you make should have audio.

Yes, I have tunnel enabled.
Have re=provisioned app anyway but still no joy.

did you scan QR code or send welcome email to reprovision?

By scanning the QR code in the management web page

Hi Dave,

If the app can register on the PBX and the tunnel has been confirmed to be enabled, then you should definitely have audio.

I would recommend to remove the app, install it fresh, and provision it via the QR code from a freshly sent Welcome Email.

Ensure the settings on the extension are as follows before you do anything:

What happens? phone is registred to 3CX ? not registred? no audio at all? one way ?

Seems it was just my phone
I uninstalled the app, re-installed, reprovisioned from a new welcome email and all is working!

many thanks for all the help much appreciated

Cheers
