I tried setting up the web client at home recently but unfortunately, I have no audio in either direction. I don't have this same issue using the phone client for Windows. I remember seeing the chrome popup asking permission to use my microphone and naturally I clicked allow. what am I missing here?

Hi @ZenMasta,

Have you run and passed the Firewall Checker? It checks the required audio ports which may not be open in your case.

EDIT:

Have you updated to the latest version?

Hello,
i just wanted to create a thread by myself and saw your topic first, so maybe you both got the same problem here.

I got excatly the same issue and was able to do some further investigation.
The 3CX Phone Client uses the Tunnel Port which is by default 5090. When this port is open on your firewall you should be able to receive and send audio data. (Which is working)

The Webclient uses the WebRTC as an audiochannel and uses the UDP ports 9000 - 10999.
However, these ports are also open on my firewall, so i fired up wireshark to see whats going on.

Maybe you got the same issue, which i still dont have a solution for:

Regarding the wireshark capture, whenever i start a call it seems the webapp tries to connect to my internal 3CX IP address instead of my external address.
Therefore the audio data cant reach the ip destination from your homeoffice and you audiodata is send to "nowhere".

For example:

Internal IP 192.168.0.3 HomeOffice Client
Internal IP 192.168.3.3 3CX in Branch Office
No VPN Connection between HomeOffice and Branch Office

192.168.0.3 Src Port55969 192.168.3.3 Dest Port 10550

I have no idea why this is happening but and i've seen some other threads regarding this issue.
(Like https://www.3cx.de/forum/threads/webclient-ohne-audio.93368/ in german)
  • Firewall check passes
  • I open the 3CX PBX website by FQDN from webbrowser (my3cx.com)
  • The same FQDN is entered in the 3CX Settings
  • WebApp sends audio data to the internal IP 3CX ip address instead of the external FQDN address.
Maybe you have the same issue and someone already got a solution for this?

Thank you in advance,
Fred

@Fred.R

I would recommend to try this with your own PC if possible from that home office, to eliminate any possibility that this pc has something weird in the network settings.

If you can still replicate it, then open a ticket with 3CX Support in this case so they can look further into it.

Hello John and thank you for your reply.
I tried it with two independent computers with the same result.

Maybe some parameter on my 3CX is wrong, i think i have no other choice than open a ticket.

Thanks again and best regards,
Fred

If you have another 3CX installation, you can try that one too from the same home just to be sure.

Or you can try the existing "problematic" extension from another location, just to isolate the issue under specific conditions.

Then go ahead with the ticket if the issue persists
