no ring played to callers

hi all,
I have an external line setup which rings the ext fine, however the caller hears no ringing, but they can hear when it's answerd, any suggetions ?

You need to give us a little more info here.
Is the external line a SIP trunk or PSTN through a gateway? If so what gateway? Log files would be good too.
