Hi everyone.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle office hours for call queues?

We have a hotline set up which has office hours on the DID from the sip trunk which works for external customers, but we have a number of remote offices that transfer calls to the hotline outside of office hours, and because it bypasses the the DID the caller joins the queue even through there is no one to answer it.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

You can try the following:

  1. Send the DID to a dummy extension.
  2. Set the dummy extension to autoswitch (will go to DND during OOH)
  3. Set the dummy extension to forward calls to an IVR when on DND
  4. Set that IVR to say something like "our opening hours are...."

You still have a major challenge ahead of you though: The problem all along was the overseas office sending calls somewhere without checking their clocks, and now the additional challenge is to get them to dial the dummy extension instead of the queue extension. Failing this, the above will not be of much help I'm afraid
