Hello,

This is our system info:
  • Annual Pro v18.0 (Build 31)
  • Debian 10
  • On-premise
We tried upgrading to v20 yesterday via management console but it failed due to the attached error. I assume this is the part that errored:

"/bin/sed: can't read /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*: No such file or directory"

Is there any extra step needed to be done before upgrading?

Thank you

Is it possible to share the full log file as received via an email?

The update failure is due to unsatisfied dependencies.
Have you installed anything else on the same server as the 3CX PBX?

Was it installed using the ISO provided by 3CX, or through manual command line ?

Hi TheodorosG,

The file I have attached above, debian10to12 is the file received via email when the upgrade failed.

Hi Guillaume,

Nothing else has been installed. We had an issue while upgrading from v16 to v18 with some unmet dependencies. I posted on this forum and was advised by 3cx staff to install something. I used the command provided to me to install that and the upgrade worked. Other than that, we don’t really do much on the server. All upgrades are doing via updates page.

I have attached the error log while creating the post. Apart from that we have not received any other error log.

Can you please check if there is also the log file under /var/lib/3cxpbx ?

If because of Zabbix giving an error then how come it upgraded from 10 to 11 ??

This depends on a lot of facts what allowed to upgrade to Debian 11 but fail to 12.
If currently the machine is in Debian11 and in V18 the safest way is to create a full backup and reinstall with the latest V20 ISO.

You mean Create a New VM with latest V20 ISO Installation and restore the backup is the best way of doing to get V20???

Since the upgrade process was not completed correctly this the best way to resolve this issue.

If you consider the amount of time going to be spent troubleshooting why the upgrade failed and being stuck in limbo on Debian 11, it would be beneficial to just do a fresh install and go directly to Version 20 with the ISO.

Also given that this is an upgrade from Version 16 to version 18 and that had a problem as well, it may very well rear its head further down the line as well.

The simplest approach would be to switch to Hosted by 3CX. This can be done in just a few steps and provides peace of mind.

Log in to your 3CX portal at "customer.3cx.com," click on the license, and then click "Switch to Hosted."

This way, you'll never have to experience this headache again.

Consider it!

Thanks Nicholas , So if i go with Fresh installation and use the backup and restore i wont get any issues and it will work perfectly ???

You are partners, you should already have this information ?

Here is the link to check the MSRP price list. To find out your “partner pricing”, you will need to simulate a transaction or contact your market manager, who will guide you through the pricing.
