We have a single 3CX system with all locations connected via VPNs, each with their own SIP trunks/outgoing IDs.

We have a staff member who moves between three different locations and would like each of the 3 hard phones she has to be associated with a single extension. Whilst I can provision the extension for all 3 phones, that will lose the outgoing caller id, which I believe is vital for the 911 services.

Is there any way this can be done with 3CX as is? I wondered about creating a ring group for her but she also needs to have her presence shown correctly in the 3CX App so others know she's on a call.

Thoughts and suggestions welcome !

I have found that on some phonesets, if you datafill a phone number into a specific field, that number will then be used on an outside call. It is grasping at straws. That is about all i can think of, that would differentiate the extension, when it appears in more than one location. You would really need a "caller ID set by IP address" type feature.

If your 911 calls went out over a "local" trunk group, rather than a common one, used by all 3 sites, then a prefix could be used to routet the 911 call to the correct trunk group. If the set had an internal dialplan that was able to convert 911 to 8911, then the 8 could be used in the outbound rules, to direct the call to the correct trunk, using that trunks caller ID.
