Hi,

We have been happily using 3cx for the past few months afte going live. Great system. We have set all of our extensions to have outbound caller id's. We have 5 sip trunks with gamma, some trunks have a few numbers other 100. On sip trunk 4, we have 100 numbers and the main sip trunk number. Any extensions we have associated with this trunk, seem to show up the main trunk number on iphones. Whereas on Samsung or other devices it is fine and shows the correct outbound caller id.

I think it is configured correctly, but kind of stumped now. Wierdly, if you put a contact into the iPhone with the number on (the outbound caller id that we want) and you call the phone it actually shows the contact!

weird!

anyhelp much appreciated :-)

thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

I would suggest the following test, from an extension that has an outbound ID defined:

1. Run a capture and call a mobile line that is an android

2. Run a second capture and call a mobile line that is an iPhone

Compare the two captures and see what is sent out by the PBX. Is it the same thing in both cases?

If you use the same extension used in the above test, and call a land-line phone (with call display, of course), what shows? I have seen cases of the DID number showing in the number field, and the main (billing) number showing in the name field. If this were the case, then it could be a difference in how the iPhone and Samsung handle (or don't), name display.

Yes, because the provider could be sending the DID as a name, and the iPhone may be choosing to show "name" instead of "Caller ID".

You need to ensure that your PBX does it's job of sending the number in the correct field that your specific trunk provider wants, and then it is all down to the trunk provider and also the cell provider of the recipient. You might not be able to control the what second one does though..

ok that's that's great;. How does one control in 3cx whether the outbound call uses the name or the called id?

I should add, we just used the 3cx template for Gamma when setting it up so theoretically, we assumed the settings would be correct.

They should be correct, but run a capture as described in post #2 to see what is sent to the provider first
