I am having the same issue as this post.
Outbound Caller ID filter by Extensions or Department not working v20

I have this working at other locations, just not this one.

Basically I have 2 locations

All outbound calls are currently using the same outbound caller ID listed on the SIP trunk main page under "Main Trunk Number". I need to have a different caller ID for a different office.

I have setup a seperate Department for the one I want a different caller ID for.
The only extensions in the department are the 5 at that location.
The extensions are not listed in any other department. (That I can find)
The calls to the inbound number work and the calls are directed to the ring group assigned to the inbound number. Which is the same number I want for the outbound caller ID.
The department has an Outbound Rule that has only "Calls from this Department" selected and the "Outbound caller ID is set to "+1256XXXXXXX"
The Telnyx SIP trunk is set for
Inbound +E.164
Outbound E.164 / National (e.g. US - 10 digits)
And for what it is worth, When i try to test the 933 emergency call for this location, the phone number on the automated answering system has the wrong number also.. Even though the correct number is in the Emergency settings for this location.

Seems like the 3CX system is not sending the outbound number as "+1256XXXXXXX"

And If it means anything, this installation is a virgin V20 install. Not an upgrade from V18.

Any help would be great.
Thanks

I assume you have made a call from 3CX to your cell phone and confirmed that the caller ID you are seeing is incorrect. With that assumption, I would call Telnyx and ask them to capture a sample call and see what they are receiving. It is possible that 3CX is sending the correct information, but Telnyx is not handling the data correctly. If they see 3CX sending the incorrect data, then come back here and we will try and help you diagnose the problem further.

Update

Checking the call log, if someone is dialing an outbound call, I see the number dialed as 205848XXXX, Not +1205848XXX

Does that indicate that Telnyx is seeing 205848XXXX?

"Number dialed" is the number you are calling, not the caller ID you want to present. But you should be able to see the caller ID information in the logs too.

I would confirm the call is going out the expected outbound rule. If you temporarily put a fake phone number in the other outbound rule, then place the call, if it is going out the wrong rule, it will either present the fake number, or Telnyx will reject the call because you do not own the fake phone number. If the call still goes out and it shows neither the fake number nor the correct caller ID, then you know the problem is not with the outbound rules.

Is this what you are wanting from the Telnyx debug log? This is from a caller not in the department I am trying to setup. Just checking to see if the information I need it is this part of the debug log. Is the "From" number below the outbound caller ID?

This is a degug log from one of the extensions at the location I am trying to set the caller ID on. The "From" in this log is the correct number

This looks like a Telnyx issue. Have them perform a capture and then explain why they are not presenting the correct number.

OK, just got of the tech support with Telnyx. They say the P-Asserted-Identity is being used and it overriding the number I want to use. How can the be changed in V20

Thanks

Which one of these fields need to be changed to allow the caller ID from the users extension to be used instead of the default trunk number? Is there a way to set the caller ID based on department instead of extension?

Anyone have a suggestion on how to change this?

I looked at the debug logs of Telnyx for calls originating from systems are V18 upgrade to V20 and do not see he P-Asserted-Identity in the INVITE message. But the 2 systems that have been brought online as virgin V20 systems both have this inserted in the INVITE.

According to Telnyx, this overrides the user selected Outbound caller ID.
