Have a customer with Sip trunk. Outbound callerid works fine on US calls, but when making international calls, it shows the US area code as the country code.

Being in North Texas with (972)xxx-xxxx, it appears they are calling from Isreal, country code 972.

Is there a way to resolve this?

It all depends on what the destination provider chooses to do with the number. Some will prefix with a + and country code and number, in the name field if the display is capable (many countries don't do name display). Some will add the international prefix and country code, to the number, and some will display unaltered. In many cases you will have no control over this.

The way to resolve it is to talk to your SIP trunk provider. It's either something they can correct on their end, or it's a change you need to make in 3CX and they can tell you what would be.

You can send whatever number you want, 10 digits, or add a 1 as a prefix (which could be interpreted as either a country code or a long distance access code), you still don't know how the provider at the terminating end is going to send out (modify) the number to it's subscriber. Will it be unaltered, or will they attach a prefix to present it in a dial-able format? If you send 11 digits nationally, a terminating provider may prefix with a 1, so the called party gets 11xxx nxx-xxxx
