Hi All,

We have an install where one one extension is not showing CallerID (main trunk number) when making outbound calls, but another extension is.

We want all extensions to show the number when making outbound calls.

I have checked, and there is a Default Caller ID string set in:

SIP Trunks -> SIP_Provider_Name -> Caller ID -> Default Caller ID

Is there a setting somewhere I am missing that affects this?

Thanks,

Alan.

How many trunks are on this system ? and who is the provider ?

Normally as standard you will find (and this is dependent on provider settings hence the question) that if you dont put CLID per extension then the call will take the trunk number, and the reverse if you do add per extension.

In your case I am thinking it could either be related to the type of number dialled of if you have multiple trunks, based on the call type calls could be taking different provider routes and thus presenting you with different behaviours.

What number is sent, from the extension not showing the main number? Was anything ever put into the extension setting for the external caller ID, in that extension? In some cases (depending on other factors), that will replace the main trunk number. Is it just the one extension with the issue? If so, compare the 3CX Activity Log, for a call to the same number, from that extension, and one working correctly.

Hi All,

Thank you for your replies - you made me rethink trying to fix this.

I don't know the history of what settings there had been in any (or all) of the extensions, but I figured from what you have all said above, that the best option was to just remove all Caller ID config, and start from scratch.

I removed from the extensions (that had it), and from the SIP Trunk setup (Caller ID tab).

I also figured that having made all those changes, a reboot might be in order (no idea if it was strictly required, but no harm), so I did that too.

Now, all extensions are showing the correct number when an outbound call is made from all extensions (or at least the ones I have tried), so I believe it is fixed now.

I wish I'd done one thing at a time - like I tell other people to do! - but I didn't, so not sure now what the problem was precisely, but it is fixed, and I am not inclined to try to recreate it :-)

Thanks for all your replies - very much appreciated.

Alan.
