Outbound faxing when 3CX hosted?

What does everyone do for outbound fax? Just get a line from a telco?
VPN to 3CX hosted is not an option obviously and a VPN gateway on Azure is $400/m so neither of those are options

ATAs can be used for that and they support the SBC, so no need for VPN. Then just use a fax machine.

What ATAs are you using? I have a Grandstream HT801 and 802 but they don't work great trying to auto provision to the SBC on v18

They don't work great right now because of a firmware/template bug with the password. Other than that it works perfectly fine if you configure it correctly.

I've been following the doc, uploading the downloaded config and trying to reprovision but it doesn't cut over to the SBC. I am wondering if I need to factory reset it and if it'll pickup the DHCP option and just autoprovision

Have you installed an SBC on-site? Also, yes you need to make sure you updated the ATA to the latest firmware (www.grandstream.com/support/firmware) and then reset it. From there, you should just have to upload the config file once.

However, as I said, the password might not work so maybe the file gets rejected because of that. (Something with the minimum requirements for the passwd)

That's odd. What did you use to install the SBC on?

Also, have you tried any other device other than an ATA?

There are also a large number of fax services where one uploads a file to their site and they fax it for you. Surely cheaper than an extra line.

Got this going. It's really hard to tell if the fax device is pointed at the SBC or not without being onsite to test.
