Following advice I have removed the Outbound Route from "DEFAULT" and created a series of outbound routes for different UK number schemes, allowing them from my internal extension group.

We have a ring group to ring all phones in the office for 15 seconds and then to forward to an external number (answering service) when not answered.

This call is now failing since the outbound route changes, it shows in the logs: Caller '<externalnumber>' is not found in the list of allowed extensions where <externalnumber> is the person originally calling in.

Not quite sure how to deal with this without allowing everyone to be able to make calls to everywhere. It seems you can't add an outbound route that applies to a single destination which is how I thought I could do it.

Have I simply gone too far with my security? Is there a way to achieve this?

Thanks

Graham

If you forward to one external number, your answering service, try creating a new outbound rule that consists of just that one number. Place it above the other, more restrictive rules. Matches to rules are done from top to bottom. When anyone dials that number, the new rule will be used.

Thanks @leejor , I tried that, added the external number in the prefix section and the group DEFAULT, made no difference.

remove from group DEFAULT - since the Trunk is not part of the Default Group AFAIK. Match the external destination number only.

You need to create an entirely new rule, just for the one number, with no restrictions as to who can access it.
