Hi all.
I have a 3CX whose extensions require PIN to make outgoing calls and the Outbound route strips the Call Flow extension number. It is required to have a few extensions that call out without a PIN. I have created a second outbound rule that has a no strip. Outgoing calls from the open extensions fail to call. When I move the no strip outbound rule up the extensions call out and PIN calls fail. How can I achieve calling out with a PIN and calling without?

Based on your description I understand that you are not using the "PIN PROTECT" feature but have users use a PIN that is stripped in the outbound rule.

If this is the case, the way you are trying to implement this will not work as you expect it to, but you can try the following:

  1. From the Management Console navigate to "Users">> Click on the "Groups" button and create 2 groups.
  2. The first group (example name: PIN) should contain the extensions that need to enter a PIN in order to make outbound calls.
  3. The second group should contain the extensions that require no PIN. (example name: NO PIN)
  4. Then navigate to the "Outbound Rules" and create 2 outbound rules.
  5. On the outbound rule in which you want the extensions to enter a pin to make outbound calls, under the "Calls from extensions group(s)" click "Add" and add the "PIN" group and stip the appropriate number of digits to match the pin number. Make sure the "Calls to numbers starting with prefix" field contains the PIN.
  6. On the outbound rule which you want the extensions not to enter a pin to make outbound calls, under the "Calls from extensions group(s)" click "Add" and add the "NO PIN" group. Make sure no stip digits are set on this outbound rule.

Alternatively, you can use the PIN PROTECT feature in the "options" of each extension which forces the extension to enter its voicemail PIN in order to make outbound calls.

The way PIN PROTECT works is that before an extension makes an outbound call, it first needs to dial "777" (for 3-digit PBX) and authenticate using its voicemail pin.

The timer on the PIN PROTECT feature will allow the extension to make outbound calls without entering the PIN for the amount of time set on the timer.

If the timer is set to "0" seconds the extension will not be able to make outbound calls.

The maximum value that is allowed is "9999" seconds.
