We have 74 extensions that comprise of fanvil x6u phones, and 2 grandstream ht802 speaker systems.

When we try to do an announcement across all of them via a page everywhere ring group setup for paging strategy, it takes 6 seconds before we can speak into the phone to do the announcement.

What is the best course of action to get this to work instantly? This is the first and only setup I've done where it pages this many devices at once.

I've done everything in that thread and it's still not working.

The PBX is cloud hosted but the SBC is on the same LAN as the phones.

We have sophos firewall, ubiquiti unifi switches. In sophos I made a any to any fw rule for port 50001, and in unifi I enabled igmp snooping, and even enabled mdns, and set the multicast router port to the SBC, and set forward unknown multicast traffic to flood.

I've went into every fanvil x6u phone and set the name, ip:port, and channel to 0 under mcast.

I've tried dialing just the extension number and *7+ext (paging set in dial codes), and neither will work.

Not sure what I'm missing here?

Hello @ElementalWindX ,

You would need to have the PBX and the phones in the same LAN, so cloud service will not work.

I guess chatgpt 5 is wrong in this case?

I ran wireshark on the SBC and got zero packets using this filter...

ChatGPT is wrong, SBC does not support relaying multicast. 3CX should really add this feature.

What model phones are you using?

For large sites we do (not officially supported) custom templates.

The yealink phones get a specific page button that makes the multicast page and the phones are set to receive it (if not on the phone or dnd, however this can be adjusted as needed).

That way the multicast stays local.

Ring group paging isn’t very good when going over 25 phones. Ideally closer to 10. Multicast is way better.

Yep after much wiresharking, 100% sbc does not.

However I believe one workaround I could try is utilizing one of the fanvil pa2s units I have at this client and have it send a regular page to it, but have it setup for multicast to send to everything else and that would achieve the same goal. Anyone else agree this could work?

This works but it will be custom template to configure the listener portion on the phones.
