Hi All,

We have a client with a system hosted in Azure. They have a site to site VPN to Azure w/ no SBC. They've been complaining of call quality issues for a long time, but we have not been able to reproduce the issue or capture it on a packet capture.
I do believe the issue is with the internet in their office. Would an SBC help with this? Would the SBC still send the traffic through the VPN, or would it send it through the internet?
We've installed many SBC's, but never with a self-hosted system with LAN connectivity.

If you believe the issue is with their office internet connection, then an SBC isn't going to fix anything as it will be using the same internet connection.

As far as the question with regards to the SBC using the VPN, that is not a 3CX question, that is a network design question. Neither 3CX nor the SBC know anything about your VPN connection, They just know where they are at and what they are trying to reach. If that path happens to go across the VPN then yes. If it doesn't, then no.
