Hi All,

Is there a way to set a tone/beep when using the paging feature?
Specificly using paging multicast as there are ~25 handsets in the group.

This would be a phone specific question.

The difference between a normal paging and the multicast paging is that the normal paging addresses each individual device first, then gives the signal to the person to page their message.

Multicast on the other hand, the phones are actively listening to the multicast address and when the signal comes they open up straight away and page the message.

Essentially, with multicast "Aint nobody got time for the beep"

This is may initially sound like a hacky solution, but you could have the person that needs to page call a Call Flow Designer extension that prompts the caller for the message, verifies that the message is exactly what you want, then the CFD calls the paging extension, plays a beep, then the message.

While this sound a little cluttered as a solution it actually offers a number of advantages: (1) it lets you approve the message before you page it to the world. I like that idea, and (2) you can add the beep. This approach really is no more work for the caller, and offers some nice benefits.

I just had another thought. You could require the caller to enter a authorization code. In a school environment, it might be nice to block pesky students from making a prank page :)
