So for reasons everyone should be familliar with, my workplace went almost 100% remote. As a result, I have a 3cx server setup in a colo and everyone connects to it via SBCs (SO many raspberry pis... *shudder*). However we have this one fax machine in our HQ that was connected over a media gateway (Patton SmartNode 4114). When I moved the PBX to the colo, I also setup a new SBC at the office and the SBC took the old IP of the PBX at that location. I didn't really care much because one 1 dude used the fax and somehow the media gateway just worked with no additional configuration. I assume it just connected through the SBC somehow (the analog line still works anyway).
So anyway, now I need to setup another media gateway at a different property for fire alarm system monitoring and an elevator call box. both are analog lines. Of course Patton has discontinued the 4114 in favor of the 4141 and I see the 4141 is supported by 3cx but the setup documentation indicates the media gateway needs to be in the same network and subnet as the PBX... the pbx is most certainly NOT in the same network or subnet...
So I guess my question is this, can I setup the new media gateway like I did the old one and point it at the SBC at that property? or am I going to have to go through some other shenanigans to get this working?
