Hello

I am having some issues with calls between extensions not giving a ringtone.
Did some research and was advised to make sure that "PBX Delivers Audio" is turned on for all of the extensions.
However after the V.20 update I am not seeing this setting anywhere.

Please assist or provide a different potential solution that I can try for this.

Kind regards,
Dylan

Hi @DylanB

PBX delivers audio is not available as an option in V20 but you can get the same results if you enable recordings on one of the extensions.
Are your using IP phones or 3CX clients?

Hello YiannisH_3CX

Thank you for the update!

We are using 3CX Clients.

I have confirmed that "Record all calls" are enabled on all of the extensions and we are still experiencing this issue.

Kind regards,
Dylan

Do the receiving clients show the call or not? I mean is the issue the lack of ringing or do the calls not work either? Can the calls be answered and if so do you have audio?

Hello YiannisH,

I have been searching for this option for a long time in v20, an option we used with success on 150+ PBX's over the last few years.

Can you tell me why this option is not there anymore? if the alternative is to select a completely different option which does not have anything to do with what the "PBX Delivers audio"-option provided, but has a side-effect that audio is routed through the PBX for making recording possible. (we don't want to record, we want the PBX to handle the audio, which was exactly what "PBX delivers audio" did and said. it was clear and easy to find. why obfuscate such an important option.)

[partially off-topic]

Also, why did the option inbound-rules disappear? There are outbound-rules, why change the name for inbound-rules. (it was clear what that option did)

and... SIP-trunks. i get there were more options under SIP-trunks than SIP-trunks alone, but "Voice and Chat" makes no sense to what that option does.

And one more....where is the Rights-tab in the users section. We are not allowed to change the rights for specific users anymore?
Can we create groups with specific rights so we can add users to these groups?

thanks

Hello Yiannish

I hope all is well!

To answer your questions

1. Do the receiving clients show the call or not?
Yes the calls displays on both the callee and the caller's screens.

2. I mean is the issue the lack of ringing or do the calls not work either?
The calls work perfectly and connects with no issues once the call is picked up.

3. Can the calls be answered and if so do you have audio?
The calls can be answered and do have perfect audio the only issue is that the ring tone itself does not play and the calls are silent until the call has been picked up.

I have to agree with @ralphrijk on the points that he has raised could you please provide some feedback on this as we are going to be forced to upgrade to V20 eventually and would like some information regarding the changes that 3cx has made to the new "Management Console".

Kind regards,
Dylan

@DylanB

Which 3CX clients are you using and what browser are you using if you are using webclient? Also are you using headsets?

Can you tell me why this option is not there anymore? if the alternative is to select a completely different option which does not have anything to do with what the "PBX Delivers audio"-option provided, but has a side-effect that audio is routed through the PBX for making recording possible. (we don't want to record, we want the PBX to handle the audio, which was exactly what "PBX delivers audio" did and said. it was clear and easy to find. why obfuscate such an important option.)
Because the PBX can do automatically when needed. If phones are on different networks or connected to an external call then it is done automatically. When phones can talk directly then it's better to do so.

Also, why did the option inbound-rules disappear? There are outbound-rules, why change the name for inbound-rules. (it was clear what that option did)
The name of Inbound rules did not change. Inbound rules work a bit differently now. You can still "create" inbound rules by assigning DIDs to endpoints.

and... SIP-trunks. i get there were more options under SIP-trunks than SIP-trunks alone, but "Voice and Chat" makes no sense to what that option does.
Since the tab also contains the Facebook, WhatsApp and Live Chat options the name Voice and Chat better reflects what you can find there.

And one more....where is the Rights-tab in the users section. We are not allowed to change the rights for specific users anymore?
Can we create groups with specific rights so we can add users to these groups?
Rights cannot be customized in V20. This blog post contains a lot of the answers

Hello YainnisH

I hope all is well with you!

1. Which 3CX clients are you using and what browser are you using if you are using webclient?
We use the 3cx application that we downloaded form signing into the webclient.

2. Also are you using headsets?
We are using headsets and all of them are working fine as they have been checked multiple times.

Kind regards,
Dylan

I saw this thread and since today and after Updating to V.20 my 3CX PBX is not working properly anymore.
Internal calls do ring, but if answered, there is no audio between the extensions.

If we activate the call recording on the extensions, then works. But then every call is recorded and I do not want to record any call at all. So please provide a solution to this! It is urgent.

@knfr I would suggest a new thread, and post some details like where the server is located, phone models, SBC/router phone, does it happen using web client, does firewall checker pass, etc.

I'm going to toss in the need for "PBX Delivers Audio" as well.

It's become common security practice for those wishing to have secured networks to isolate all endpoints from each other and only pass traffic between endpoints that is allowed. So PC1 cannot ping PC2 even though they are in the same subnet (both have 192.168.1.x addresses and are connected to the same switch). This helps prevent malware from one PC spreading to other PCs in the same network. Then you define what specific ports can communicate (so allow 5060 traffic from PC1 to Server 1, but all other traffic is blocked).

This means that endpoint to endpoint calls (when using IP endpoints) fail as 3CX assumes they can communicate with each other but they can't. And setting up allow port ranges just undoes the security benefits of isolated endpoints.

We use the 3cx application that we downloaded form signing into the webclient.
Can you try the same scenario from the webclient and let me know if the issue persists?

Hello 3cx team,

We have similar problems too with new version.
This is vital setting to our company, please add manual activation of pbx-delivers audio, there are situations where we can't activate recordings.
The problem is mostly while using VOIP telephones and not 3cx client or web application.
Your automatic system is not working correctly while using different networks. Disabling your users to choose how they want to configure their server is not good business practice.

+1 for "PBX Delivers Audio" we need this setting and don't want to be forced to enable call recording to get it.

OMG why they make every thing more confuse then was, I feel like v20 is like windows 8 , avoid avoid.
Let's wait for v21 or find different PBX. I start looking for options, this v20 make me crazy.

Hope this will be re-added to V20, we use this quite often to troubleshoot inter-network port issues as well. Some of our customers even rely on this feature due to the security it provides (like the example @SweetAction mentioned)

It will be back in one of the coming Service Packs.

Please add PBX Delivers Audio option back ASAP.

When can we expect the service pack and is there a workaround?
