I have a client with a V18 phone system in a Digital Ocean Droplet that needs to be moved to V20. Created a system owner. Did a full backup of everything including FQDN. For consistency's sake with my other clients am moving them to an Amazon Lightsail instance. 2 CPUs 4GB of RAM. Went through the PBX express process from the 3cx Portal, uploaded the backup with no problems and started the process. Made sure the V18 droplet was off before starting.

Successful steps "Launching" and "Creating FQDN." However, during the "Generating SSL Certificate" step, the process halted and I got the error:

PBX reported installation error: 'Cannot read keys when either application does not have a console or when console input has been redirected. Try Console.Read.'

I have no idea what that means. Turned the V18 System back on and did another backup just in case there was some error before. Did all of the above again and got the same error.

Can someone help me fix this problem? I need to upgrade to V20 and can't.

Seems like you might have some configuration in your backup causing issues.
What I suggest you check first is the operator extension on your current v18 instance. If it's set to an extension number usually used for conferencing or other system extensions etc try switching it to something like 100 or 101.

Save, take a backup and try to restore again. Let me know how it goes.

The operator extension was not set to anything so it was blank! Could that be the problem? I've set it to extension 100, a user that isn't being used, and that has voicemail turned off. This is a working establishment so I wont be able to backup and do the upgrade/restore until tomorrow morning. I'll let you know how it went.

Would leaving the operator parameter blank cause this problem?

@VoyantPhone Yes that would most definitely have the same effect. Setting it to 100 should do the trick so do let us should you need anything else!

Just completed the upgrade/restore successfully. The blank Operator parameter was the problem. Working fine in V20 now. Thanks for your help.
