Good Morning,

I' m installing 3CX and I wonder which is the best option between SBC vs DHCP option66.

I put my 3cx on DMZ and my phone is in a voice Vlan.
I actually test the solution with the DHCP option 66 and everything works fine.
3CX preconize to install SBC in this case.
What do you think about it ?
The SBC need to run 24 hours a day and could be a single point af failure.

Could you tell me pros and cons ?

Thanks

Regards

Fred

One does not negate the other. The 3CX SBC is not only used for provisioning, it is also required to to act a as a proxy for remote IP Phones. DHCP option 66 on the other hand is to allow the IP Phones to grap the provisioning link via the DHCP so that they can auto-reprovision even if factory reset.

That said, the question is, where are the IP Phones in relation to the PBX? Are they remote or on the same LAN? Also, What provisioning method did you select in the 3CX Management Console >> Extensions >> Phone Provisioning for these IP Phones.

Thanks for your answer.

Phones are on the same LAN but in a different vlan / Subnet. The provisionning method is local LAN

If they are local then they don't need the SBC to connect, meaning you should be just fine with just dhcp option 66.

Ok. thank you very much

Have a good day
