I have read tons of articles on resetting a phone to factory. I am specifically working with Yealink T42S.

I cannot get the phone to reset.
Firmware 66.85.25.4
Phone was provided to customer by ATT Office@Hand PBX system. We took over Phone system and migrated system to 3CX.
We have tried the OK button
Power cycle with Speaker button held down

The only thing left as far as I know it to do a firmware install using USB. But cant get that to work. We downloaded the rom T46S(T48S,T42S,T41S)-66.81.0.60.rom and select USB on the boot screen. we get an error -1.

Any suggestions?

Are you having this issue with all the phones? They might be locked by ATT to the yealink RPS server so even if you did a factory reset, when it first boots it reaches out and the RPS server sends it the ATT config.

I thought about that, but that should not stop the usb firmware change would it?

Can I remove the RPS from the yearlink system. I saw where I can provide a remove request. How long does it take?

Hi ,
As already said in previous answer, ask this Yealink first. If phones are locked for use with ATT then you are screwed. except if Yealink send you a way to workaround.

it seems to me RPS server keep alive 15 days phones ,so if you have time, disconnect totally the phone and forget it more than 15 Days and reconnect it after to see if you are a lucky guy ;)

Yes that could be stop a firmware boot. Depends on the current firware of the phone. I know the yealink phones that verizon uses has a completely different firmware than the normal yealink phones and within that firmware they might disable the use of usb booting.

I have attached the yealink recovery guide. If this is no help then opening a ticket with yealink would be your only option.

This is true of how 3CX does it, but for people with access to Yealink RPS directly (for sure ATT, as even I have access), it's forever.
