Unsupported Phonebook - All numbers must be entered in "mobile phone" format

Hi all,
In the past I used to add contacts with [business number] = [extension number]
We used it for shared workplaces where two users were available over the same phone number (e.g. Mrs. Meier in the morning and Mr. Mueller in the evening)
Since the update to V20 the phonebook requires all numbers in the company address book to be in the "mobile phone" format.

It makes it quite complicated and not "system friendly", becuase now when using the phonebook the 3CX system has to dial the complete phone number instead just the 3digit extension.

Luckily the system does not "complain" about the existing records in the address book, but I'm not able to update them or to create new ones with just the extension.

Is there any way to have only the short extension in the phonebook / company address book?

Regarding your question, only the mobile number field is populated on IP phones and entered in the com[pmay phoenbook, it was always this way.

Yes, I understand; however, mobile numbers are not three digits, so this is not permitted. In any case, the IP phone's phonebook should already be populated with the extension numbers and names of other internal users.

But if you see the screenshots from my first post - there is no field, where I could use only the 3 digit extension number.
All fields do have a format check and expect the phone number to be in the "mobile phone" format.

So what's my solution for:

Users: >> Extension 153: || Firstname: HELPDESK || Lastname: OFFICE

Addressbook:
Firstname: Mike || Lastname: Myers || [ ] >> 153 <<
Firstname: Austin || Lastname: Powers || [ ] >> 153 <<

So looking for the extension 153 I would like to get as result: Helpdesk Office, 153 + Mike Myers, 153 + Austin Powers, 153
and looking for just "Austin" would like to get the result: Austin Powers, 153

Please note that you cannot use a 3 digit extesnion number in any field within the phonebook.

Charles is very politely saying, no.

Change your extension first name / last name to whatever instead of using the address book.

If you want to index and search your users, then they should have their own extensions.

if they're sharing a phone, set this up for hotdesking.

Why would you want to repeat the extension numbers when they are already available. This is not what this is used for.
