Polycom soundpoint IP 601's reboot when calling voicemail

We've been out of the office for a while, and recently relocated our staff to a different part of the building.
Our ancient IP 601's booted up and seemed to work ok, but everyone is having an issue where the phones will do a hard reboot immediately after connecting to voicemail to retrieve messages.
Any ideas on this one?

Does that same thing happen with any other internal numbers, like echo test? Is voicemail accessed with a single VM button, or the number dialled on the keypad?

Came across this, from a few years ago, seeming to point to use of the speakerphone, as a possible cause.

What firmware on the phones on?

@leejor It is definitely the speakerphone issue. How strange.
I have one phone that is working with speakerphone (using VM button to call extension) but all the other ones now reboot. They work fine using the handset.
Phones are on firmware 3.1.8.0070 bootroom 4.14.0122.
These are truly awful phones...

Since multiple sets are having the same issue, it would not seem to indicate a hardware problem, that leaves firmware as the suspect. I assume all phones, including the working one are on the same version. If you have not yet done so, you might try a factory reset, on one phone, then re-provision, or load a different firmware version, or even the same one (slight difference in the same version?).

Replace the phones my friend. Fanvils are fully supported and pretty inexpensive. Snom has a rebate for their phones if purchasing 5 or more. Or soft phone.
