Hello Guys,

I am having very poor mobile data quality these days.... even with g729
Have you tested another codec that works better with a lot of packet loss?

Cannot get blood from a stone.
Garbage in, Garbage out.

/Euphamism not found...

Uhhh, Magic doesn't exist. Would be nice if it did.

Hmmm well I was investigating MS teams and zoom codecs, they seem to tolerate very well bad internet...
They are proprietary new codecs.

They may sacrifice latency to reconstruct the audio.

In a zoom or teams situation you usually have a single person talking without the interactive back and forth conversation so they have less concerns about the delay involved and they can buffer and retransmit lost data without as much objection. It's not the same thing.

Not sure if you have ever tried to have a conversation over a high latency connection like a satellite phone.
It is a different kind of horrible.

can you tell us more about the context ? :
- if its for users on company site who use softphone, you can try to use dect device,
- if its for distant users on mobile phone, we cant really help. is it only with one phone company or all ? maybe try with another provider,
- if its located on some locations specifically, you can often find some map of nearby antenna coverage,

Well, first; a couple of months ago I moved all the extentions apps to G722(wired or wifi sounds great)
second, we use GSM gateway with with 3 sim cards for mobile calls(inbound/outbound).

So I noticed poor quality when receiving a call from the GSM gateway to my IOS app, on mobile data.

So I confirmed the GSM gateway was on G711(same as other SIP trunk), and changed all the extenction apps to G729 only. But still when there is not good mobile signal the call quality suffers, at least the first 10-15 seconds of the call.

The Ideas I am going to test:
1.- migrate to a more powerfull server
2.- maybe mobile sip trunk(more expensive)
3.- wait for V18....
